People RSA exists for one simple reason: to give South Africans a place to share their voices, experiences, and perspectives without being drowned out by big media or lost in the endless noise of social platforms. This is your space — a place where your story matters, where the small details count just as much as the big moments, and where your words can travel far beyond your own circle of friends.
We believe that every person has something worth saying. Whether it’s a heartfelt account of a personal challenge, a piece of advice you wish you’d known earlier in life, a celebration of your community’s successes, or simply a story that captures what it’s like to live in South Africa right now, it’s worth sharing. The diversity of voices is what makes this space powerful — from Cape Town to Limpopo, Joburg to the Karoo, rural towns to busy metros, every perspective adds colour to the bigger picture of who we are.
What makes People RSA different
People RSA isn’t about clickbait headlines or chasing the next viral trend. We’re here to create a lasting, authentic record of South African life through the people who live it. Your story is published in your own words, with light editing to make it as clear and engaging as possible, while still keeping your voice intact. This means readers connect with you, not just the topic.
And unlike a fleeting social media post that disappears into the feed, your contribution here has a permanent home. Once approved, it’s also automatically shared with over 5,000 followers on our I Am South African Facebook page, giving you immediate exposure to a large, engaged community.
How to share your story
- Navigate to — our Write Your Story page, where you’ll find the submission form.
- Write your story — aim for 400–600 words: enough detail for impact, but easy to read in one go.
- Add a title — something that captures attention and reflects your piece.
- Include an image — or we’ll choose one for you.
- Submit your story — answer the short math question before hitting send. (Tip: Draft in Google Docs, Word, or Notes first so you won’t lose your work.)
- Wait for approval — we’ll lightly edit and publish your story with your name.
Once your piece is published, your name will appear on it so readers know who to thank for sharing.
Why your contribution matters
South Africa is a country full of stories — stories of resilience, innovation, tradition, humour, and sometimes heartbreak. But too often, only a small fraction of these are told. The mainstream narrative can never truly capture the full richness of our culture and everyday life. That’s where People RSA comes in.
When you share your voice here, you help:
- Represent real, lived experiences in our communities
- Inspire others who may be facing similar challenges
- Celebrate successes that deserve to be recognised
- Spark conversations that lead to change
Even if you think your story is “ordinary,” it could be the exact thing someone else needs to hear.
Our commitment to contributors
Every story is read carefully before it’s approved. We look for sincerity, clarity, and a genuine connection to South African life. We promise to treat your words with respect, to polish them only where necessary for readability, and to keep your personal voice intact.
We also take your safety and privacy seriously. Please take a moment to read our Terms & Conditions and Disclaimer before you submit — they explain how your content will be used and what you can expect from us.
Need help?
If you have any questions or run into problems while submitting, you can always contact us. Whether you need clarity on the word count, help choosing a topic, or simply want to know what happens after submission, we’re here to guide you through it.
