3. Who Can Submit Content

  3. You are not prohibited by South African law from publishing such content.

4. Ownership of Content & Licence You Grant Us

  • You will remain the original copyright owner of the content you submit.
  • By submitting content to People RSA, you grant us a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, and unrestricted licence to:
    1. Use, store, reproduce, display, publish, distribute, edit, adapt, translate, and create derivative works from your content.
    2. Use your content for any purpose, including editorial, promotional, marketing, commercial licensing, social media posting, and partnerships with third parties.
    3. Licence or sublicense your content to third parties — such as news outlets, advertisers, or partner platforms — without further notice or payment to you.

Example:
If you submit a photo of a Cape Town sunset, we may publish it on the People RSA website, post it to our Facebook page, include it in a promotional video, or allow a tourism partner to use it — all without owing you payment.

5. Right to Edit, Moderate, and Remove Content

  • We may edit your content to correct spelling, grammar, formatting, or to remove private or sensitive information.
  • We may decline to publish your submission, or remove it after publication, at our sole discretion and without providing a reason.
  • We may retain archived or backup copies of your content even if it is removed from public view.

6. Requests to Remove Your Content

  • We will review removal requests, but we are not obligated to remove content unless it:
    • Violates these Terms,
    • Violates South African law, or
    • Contains personal information that should not have been shared.
  • Content already used in marketing, partnerships, or derivative works may not be withdrawn once published.

7. User Responsibilities

When submitting content, you confirm that:

  1. You own or have permission to use all elements of your submission.
  2. Your submission does not infringe any copyright, trademark, or other rights.
  3. Your submission is not defamatory, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful.
  4. Your submission does not contain malicious code, spam, or material intended to disrupt our systems.

If your submission violates these rules, we may remove it and ban you from future submissions.

  • People RSA is not responsible for the accuracy, reliability, or legality of user-submitted content.
  • Views expressed in submissions do not necessarily represent our own views.
  • We make no guarantees that the site will be available at all times or free from errors.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any loss, damage, or harm resulting from your use of the site or reliance on any content.
